The personal data we collect

When you contact us

If you email us or use the contact form on this website (which opens your own email app), we receive the information you choose to send. This is usually your name, email address, company name and the content of your message, including any details about your project.

When you visit this website

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information in server logs when pages are requested. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, the referring page and the date and time of the request. We use these logs only to keep the website secure and working properly.

This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or social media plugins. Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading this website does not send your data to third-party font or script providers.

How we use your data and our lawful basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and discuss your project. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
  • To deliver services if you become a client. Our lawful basis is the performance of our contract with you.
  • To keep this website secure. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our systems and preventing misuse.
  • To meet our legal obligations, for example keeping business and accounting records. Our lawful basis is compliance with a legal obligation.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling. We will only send you marketing messages if you have asked us to, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run our business, such as our email and website hosting providers. They act on our instructions and are required to keep your data secure. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement approved under UK law.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted.
  • Client and contract records are kept for as long as needed to provide our services and for up to 6 years after the engagement ends, to meet legal and accounting requirements.
  • Server logs are kept for a short period, normally no more than 90 days, unless needed to investigate a security incident.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your data;
  • object to our use of your data where we rely on legitimate interests;
  • ask us to transfer your data to another organisation, where this applies.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
